A lot of people ask me what I will do with my free time when I retire. “Early retirement?! You will feel so god damn bored!”
What these people don’t know is that one of the things I love the most in life is to grab my laptop and hit a nice caffee, drink a nice (preferably Italian) espresso and take care of my blog or crawl on high quality forums like Quora (btw, follow me here, as I tend to deliver very high quality answers when I am inspired), or simply read a nice book. I usually love to do this and watch people coming in and out the caffee, all with a nice chill out music in the background. I really love coffee and I really love to chill out. 🙂
The things that I love the most are simple things that don’t require too much money. Other than vegging out at a nice caffee, I love going to the gym (when I am not too tired from the CFS), plan my diet, cook, read a nice (mostly technical) book, visit a book store, hike, swim and jog.
You can now imagine that if I like these small things so much, I will fill out my retirement schedule pretty easily. 🙂 Of course it ain’t only about vegging out at nice caffees and jog around the city. Retirement is a full-time job for early retirees who followed a strict economic plan, as we have to take care of our wealth and make sure it grows (or at the very least impede that it decreases). You’ll have to actively respond to inflation, price housing, market crashes, unforeseen vacancies in your properties, bankruptcies, etc. Oh gosh, this is exciting! (I love hard tasks, I am a very competitive guy and honestly, I look at getting richer as yet another competition)
Happiness is really the joy that you have when you do these small things. Enjoy life. I am enjoying my espresso right now in this beautiful sunny Sunday.
